Empowering youth and building bridges since 1997
Oyoun Masr Association for Cultural and Social Development (OMA Egypt) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Alexandria, Egypt. It was officially declared under the number 1639 on 27/04/2004 in the Directorate of Social Affairs in Alexandria.
The (In Short and Fruitful) project targeted young people from 20 governorates in Egypt (urban and rural areas) in partnership with the UNESCO Cairo office.
Green Europe project: 44 participants plus 44 staff and volunteer members from 11 partner organizations. Stories behind minds project: 40 youth workers from 8 European and Mediterranean countries.
The file documents more than 25 projects and grants (including about 24 funded projects/grants with contract numbers within Erasmus+ / EuroMed / UNESCO / Interreg NEXT MED lists), in addition to internal units and initiatives.
Egypt (Alexandria as the main headquarter) + a headquarter in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), with activities and partnerships across Europe and the South Mediterranean.
Leading the legal campaign against FGM in Egypt and succeeding in creating an approval law against FGM in Egypt in 2020.

Building youth skills and spreading social peace, coexistence, social inclusion, dialogue between cultures, discarding conflicts and stereotypes among the different cultures.
Our Strategic Goals

Spreading the culture
Spreading the culture of voluntary work and Human Rights protection among the individuals of society (Cultural and social awareness, social inclusion, discussing youth's issues, and establishing projects which aim at servicing Human Rights, climate change, and SDGs).

Developing the skills of youth
Developing the skills of youth (Encouraging cooperation between civil society organizations, arranging youth exchanges and training courses, promoting a culture of social peace and dialogue and renunciation of violence, Green and Social entrepreneurship).

Awards and Recognition
Our association obtained the prize of the late Prof. Adel Abou-Zahra in the field of the freedom of expressing opinion and dialogue, from Bibliotheca Alexandrina, at the closing session of 'The Arab Reformation Conference' (March 2006). And our association was mentioned in the booklet of 'The Successful Experiences in the Arab World', which was issued in the Arab Youth Conference 'Culture of Thinking and Reformation' (February 2007), Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Our Journey
The Beginning
The idea started in 1997 by a group of Egyptian youth inside Students' Union in Secondary Schools in the 'Mountazah Education zone', Alexandria. It then extended in September 2000 to form 'Oyoun Masr' (Egypt Eyes) clans inside faculties and universities, and the idea soon spread in many universities in Egypt.

International Expansion
In January 2015, our headquarter was established on the other side of the Mediterranean, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in partnership with the Egyptian community there, to foster Euro-Mediterranean Citizenship. (The new website indicates offices in Alexandria, Cairo/Dokki, and Amsterdam).
